I’ve been wanting to tackle the highest peaks of the mountain range north of Madrid for some time now. Yesterday I finally got round to doing it.
Espe, Klaar, Pete and I set off relatively early on Sunday for the mountains. We parked the car at Puerto de Cotos and set off on foot.
We were walking for about 7 hours, but to be fair we had a slow pace and many breaks. Still, we reached the following peaks during the day, Dos Hermanos (2269 m & 2284m), Risco de los Claveles (2387m) and Peñalara (2429m).
We couldn’t have asked for better weather. Clear blue skies, warm sunshine and zero wind. Perfect. I still find it quite bizarre to be able to walk in the mountains in November in a t-shirt.
An excellent way to spend a Sunday. I must do this more often.
