Round the World in a little more than 80 days

A trip around the World is something I’ve wanted to do since my final year of Uni. Jon and I decided that we would go round the world together after graduating. We didn’t have the money to go immediately and once Jon had raised sufficient funds I found myself working in Madrid. Something I was not ready to give up at the time.

Jon set of regardless, but I managed to wangle five consecutive weeks off work and join him in Thailand. That was my first real taster for travel, and as noticed by many, I came back a different person. Along with a much broader outlook I had gained the self confidence that I so desperately lacked through college and University.

Since then I’ve been itching to travel more. I started planning a trip to South America, but after meeting Esperanza all of my plans got put on hold. That said, living slap bang in the middle of Spain enables me to get out and see the country regularly. Furthermore the company I work for has provided me with some excellent opportunities. My trip to Denver in 2003 was fantastic but far superior was having spent more than two months in Poland over the last year. And of course there was last year’s monumental road trip across 13 countries into the heart of central Asia, but that’s a whole other story… www.mongolmini.com

So why am I going on about all this now? Well after 5 years of dreaming, I am finally going to make that round the world trip. Back in July, Espe and I bought round the world flight tickets. In December we set of with the aim to visit India, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, The Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, The Cook Islands and the USA.

In fact, the concept of www.whereisandy.net was based on the idea of this trip. When we get on the road I’ll be posting reports, photos and maps detailing our travels. Watch this space… I for one am extremely excited.

  1. Hola Plaque Meister!

I see you have been flapping your gills in secret for the past few months 😀 World travel tickets from way back in July eh!!!! 🙂 EXCELLENT!

I knew something big was brewing, and it had to be travel related. This sounds FANTASTIC. I bet you and Espe are getting truly excited with only a few weeks until the off now??? When do you actually leave?

I’ve been out with Philippe, Jon and Hoobes this week while they’ve been over training and bits and pieces have slipped out here and there, but now it’s on your blog for all to see.

    So anymore details?

    Cheers,
    Nik

Hi Andy, I’m dropping by to see how you’re doing and I see some fantastic stuff. Great – there’s nothing better that making dreams true – I know sounds a bit cheesy but still… Have a great weekend and don’t get buggered 😉

    Warm regards,
    Jacob
