Cars…

Evidently encouraged by recent trips to the Nurburgring and Castle Combe, here I was fantasising about / pondering what my next car will be. The current shortlist goes like this:

Ludicrously powerful Mini

Peugeot 106 Rallye
PEUGEOT-106-Rallye-2564_12

MG Midget

Lotus 7 replica

The trend of small lightweight and fun is reoccurring in all of them.

But then I found myself thinking what is the point in spending all this money when there are so few opportunities to enjoy them. Trackday’s, with the huge increase in popularity (due partly to the number of speed cameras in this country) have seen a like increase in costs. So here I was getting frustraited by all the different options when I decided to watch a video called Go Rallying. It is something that had been sitting around in the office for ages. Not expecting much I was blown away. This DVD was all about the Lombard Rally (something I was obsesed with as a kid), which has seen a revival over the last few years. The concept is simple, 4 days of tough rally stages, with strict rules on the vehicles. They must all be under 1400cc and be absoultey standard (with the exception of some safety devices). These rules make it very accessable and quite possibly the best value form of motorsport out there.

I for one am very interested. My ambition is to be on this event in 2009.
