Cuenca and the Ciudad Encantada

To end our week’s vacation we decided that for the return trip we would take it easy stopping off at Cuenca for an evening. Having heard and read a lot about Cuenca, it was somewhere that I just had to see before leaving Spain. I wasn’t disappointed, the old town spans the immense cliffs of two river gorges with houses built the rocks. It was great exploring the twisty back stepped streets and taking photos. Truly a wonderful place, but I leave the photos to do the talking…

On Saturday afternoon we made our way up to la Ciudad Encantada to see the bizarre effects years of erosion has taken on the rocks there. Apparently a lot of the strange formations came about when this region was covered by the sea. An incredible place, and well worth the visit if you are in or near Cuenca.

Last night finished of the week off nicely. Pete invited Angelo, Fernanda and Donald over for a proper Sunday Roast. Apart from the Yorkshire puddings that didn’t rise properly it turned out excellently, as did the rest of the evening, chatting away and working our way through four bottles of wine.

  1. Andy, FYI la Ciudad Encantada está a 15 km del pueblo de mi padre 🙂

Estás invitado a volver cuando quieras

    Un abrazo,
    Raúl
