I spit at you English pig dogs

Posted in General at 5:48 pm by Andy

First off apologies to my sister. It was good to see yourself and Simon over once again last weekend. Its a shame I wasn’t really able to relax properly as I’m a bit overwhelmed with all the things I’ve got to do at the moment.

Back to the topic of this post, last night we were out for Bertrand’s leaving do. Bertrand is one of the French engineers in the office and the evening did feel very French. Possibly due to the masses of bottles of wine on view behind the bar and all these people speaking French around me. It was a good night out with many people from the office coming and going. I had a good chat with Christian about Espe and her improving Piano skills and later chatted to Christina and her boyfriend about all language difficulties and cultural differences. Best of all though had to be chatting to Bertrand about his plans and all the good times in Madrid. A truly top chap. I am in fact, proud to have been described to the Polish engineers in Krakow (before I arrived) as an English version of Bertrand… The only negative is that he always destroyed me while playing tennis.

Where is Andy?

Posted in General at 6:19 pm by Andy

I’ve not put any real posts up here for the best part of 20 days days. That is due to a combination of lazyness, illness, busyness and general procrastination. I’m not going to bore you with 3 weeks worth of an update, but in short I’ve had supurb Italian food over at Angelo and Fernanda’s place. I’ve had a visit from Anthony (who took his first holiday in far too long) and Cathy & Simon who are visiting Madrid for the fourth time. Otherwise I’ve been very busy with many things world wide web. A few changes to this site will become apparent over the next month or so (in preparation for something big) along with putting together sites for Espe and our Rickshaw Run team. All will be revealed soon. :)

Stop gap animation

Posted in Friday Fun at 11:01 am by Andy

With Google buying out YouTube this week just shows how big this internet video revelation is. I’ve seen so many good links lately. Far too many to post, so instead here’s a collection of videos similar to something I’ve been playing about with over the last couple of years; Stop gap animation. I’ve had a few good results, but nothing as good as these:

Cuenca and the Ciudad Encantada

Posted in Spain at 6:27 pm by Andy

To end our week’s vacation we decided that for the return trip we would take it easy stopping off at Cuenca for an evening. Having heard and read a lot about Cuenca, it was somewhere that I just had to see before leaving Spain. I wasn’t disappointed, the old town spans the immense cliffs of two river gorges with houses built the rocks. It was great exploring the twisty back stepped streets and taking photos. Truly a wonderful place, but I leave the photos to do the talking…

On Saturday afternoon we made our way up to la Ciudad Encantada to see the bizarre effects years of erosion has taken on the rocks there. Apparently a lot of the strange formations came about when this region was covered by the sea. An incredible place, and well worth the visit if you are in or near Cuenca.

Last night finished of the week off nicely. Pete invited Angelo, Fernanda and Donald over for a proper Sunday Roast. Apart from the Yorkshire puddings that didn’t rise properly it turned out excellently, as did the rest of the evening, chatting away and working our way through four bottles of wine.
