Not the best sequence of events… Yesterday morning I found the car broken into. I forgot to take my tennis kit to work so had to return home for it in my lunch break. Heavy traffic meant I only had time for a quick sandwich. On my way back to work this arrogant suited 50 year old Spaniard in his poncey 4×4 drove into the side of my car while trying to queue jump. He then threatened to punch me while calling me a “Son of a Beach” (whatever that is). All of this palava caused me to miss the…
It’s been a pretty crappy 7 days. We had some bad news last week from Espe’s family, followed by Espe’s tooth operation. A pain and inconvenience that is set to be with her for quite some time. This week has been busiest at work for quite some time (not all bad as I’ve learned a lot in the last couple of days). It is something made all the more frustrating due to colleagues around me who have absolutely bugger all to do so spend the day surfing the web, talking about Atari games consoles and annoying people through boredom. Best…
I was welcomed to work this morning by this link: carcloseups.mtv.co.uk Basically you have to name 50 cars from close ups only. Something I used to excel at. Niki managed to get 50 out of 50. Something I thought I could achieve without too much trouble. Unfortunately I couldn’t… I only scored a measly 48/50, all because I couldn’t identify the exotic Ford Focus… Bugger.
I’ve been really busy with work today so not much time to dig out a good link to entertain you, but here is a video that I was shown on my last trip to Poland. I was unable to get a copy at the time, but just recently it has surfaced on video.google.com: Fiat Four Wheel Steering
The Perfect Time
After the abismal meal we’d had the previous night I felt the need to cook something good. Another new recepie, but one that turned out beautifully first time. This was followed by the somewhat bizarre, but great, chilli choclate that Cathy has so thoughtfully bought for me for Christmas. Mustard & Parsley Chicken Ingredients (serves 2) For the Chicken: 2 chicken breasts 4 tables spoons of olive oil 1 heaped table spoon of Dijon Mustard 1 handfull of parsley 2 table spoons of white wine vinager 200 ml of Chicken Stock For the potatoes: 400 grams of new potatoes 3…
We had decided against going away for the whole of the long May weekend due to a multitude of tasks to sort in the flat and a general fatigue from the last few weekends away. I couldn’t face another weekend with 4-6 hour motorway journeys at either end. Instead we did decide to get out of Madrid for one day and go over to Toledo which, despite it’s close proximity to Madrid, is somewhere I’ve never been to. It truly is a stunning city, raised on a mound surrounded on three sides by the river Tajo. Steeped in history and…
With the laptop fixed with a shiny new motherboard (top marks to Dell for the quick resolution) I can finally post this update: Espe and I spent the weekend down in Valencia visiting her family. It was nice to have such a relaxing weekend in the sun (despite the bad forecast), eating some great food without stressing myself with all the little ‘to do’ things that normally take up quiet weekends at home. I made a good start with Ernest Hemingway’s For Whom the Bell Tolls, and in the process learned more about the Spanish Civil war. Something that has…
